Not able to connect to phone - ideas?

Windows phone, all updates in place. Fenix 5 which connected once, lost connection over night, and has never connected again.

What I'm doing: on device, go into settings, choose phone, screen says "waiting for phone."
On phone, each time I've tried I have removed the device and re-added. It finds a Fenix 5, I click "connect it, " GC asks to make sure device is in pairing mode (it is), I click "start" - it goes right back to the "connect it" screen. No error message, nothing happens on device.
Have also tried full-blown route of removing the device, removing the app, turning both devices of and on, reinstalling app, reconnecting. Didn't work - but jeez, I don't want to do that everytime I look at my watch, anyway!

As I said, it did connect once (I was able to take it on a walk around the block, it synced fine), so I don't think there's a compatibility problem. But it's completely useless this way! :( I have spent a total of about six hours trying to get it to connect. No joy.

Love the device, really want this to work. Anyone have suggestions?

This concerns me. I have a Windows phone as well. I haven't received my F5S yet and haven't ever used a Garmin with my phone so I won't be of much help. I'm assuming you're on Windows 10? I'll be watching this thread with interest. Just one more reason I'm looking at switching OS's.

Did you try going into Bluetooth on your phone and forgetting the F5?

Also go into the F5 and remove the phone?

    Then try connecting?

Also do you have the F5 connected to any other Bluetooth device?
  • Yes, Buzzard, W10Mobile. Really, really hoping that the Creators Update will fix some things. My 950XL is in fine shape, so no need to replace now. Diehard fan here, though, and, sadly, our MSBand2s are dying. This is the only device that could replace it right now, I don't know what I would go to if this won't work. One sad, lonely, cold day, I'll go back to Android.

    @bcalvanese:
I have tried connecting through phone Bluetooth, but not forgetting the F5 there. Will try that, thanks!
How do you forget the Phone from the F5? I only have a "pair to phone" option.
And no, F5 is not connected to any other BT device, but the phone is.
Could this be the same BT issue as in the "connected...not connected..." thread?

I cant sync either. Altho im using garmin connect on a windows 10 pc that has bluetooth. Same app as far as I am aware. I can sync fine in Garmin Express when the watch is plugged in. But no luck syncing over bluetooth via connect app.
Funny thing is garmin connect detects the watch just fine and shows it in the app. it only fails the sync.

Yes, dumpysauce, that's right, I WAS plugged in for my one successful sync! And yes, the app "sees" my device, it just won't connect. Shows as connected in phone BT.

Phone update now scheduled for April If it's not better then I'll probably have to return it. Calling Support tomorrow.
