Whats give the Wifi on my fenix 5?

Hello
I have the garmin fenix 5 sapphire edition and got it for thesapphire glass.
As i understand there's also a wifion this watch.
sorry if it sound strange -what do i need the wifi for?

If you connect your watch to your wifi network, you can skip syncing your watch to Garmin Connect via bluetooth (& your phone) or USB (& your computer) by syncing directly from your watch to Garmin Connect.

You don't "need" it for anything, but if you set it up, your activities can be synced wirelessly without a Bluetooth connection.

I wish I could sync all data without mobile app (not only activities).
