The bezel is quite susceptible to scratches. My F3 had quite a fair bit of damage to it over the space of a year and half. The crystal, on the other hand (mineral glass) had ONE tiny little scratch.
IMHO if Garmin was going to "toughen" something that would really matter it would be to make the bezel out of something extremely hard (and thus very scratch-resistant) such as chromium or perhaps a titanium-chromium alloy. But, they didn't.

No. I bought a sapphire lens so I wouldn't have to use a condom on it.
Bwahhaha!
There is a video on YouTube that a guy takes a drill to a 3hr sapphire and tries to drill a hole into the lens. And tries to scratch it with a key. Nothing, nada, zero marks.
He also does that to a non sapphire watch. Obviously it fairs terribly bad in comparison!
Will these screen protectors survive regular swimming or cleaning under the shower is my main question
Well to answer my old self, it wasn't needed. The screen is still mark free - bezel has some very minor marks that are hard to detect unless you look closely. I don't work in construction or anything, desk based but whacked it more times than I remember against doors, trees, etc.
When I had used screen protectors before 9564587, I found they would need replacing regularly if they got wet - would lift at edges and dust gather. That was on another device.
Bug spray would just destroy them too - within seconds would bubble and become a mess. That actually gave me a hint on how to remove some stubborn window film. Sprayed with bug spray and it just scraped off!
