Sync issues on the F5? (iPhone 5s)

Got my new F5 and am having a heck of a time getting it to properly sync and am selfishly hoping it not just my unit. :o I tried initiating the sync from the watch where it would continually show it was processing but the screen had text saying "searching for Wifi network" and when itinitiating it from my iPhone 5S I'd receive an error along the lines of "the unit is busy processing another actiivity".

Obviously I had a wifi connection, bluetooth enabled on the watch and phone, units were in close proximity, and no other tasks were running. It synced properly about 3 times and has errored out a >10 times. All other functionalities of the watch seem to be operating normally.

No issues syncing with iPhone 7 (latest iOS) and Fenix 5 (2.9 firmware). However, I just started the Garmin app on the phone and it initiated the sync. I don't think I know how to initiate the sync from the F5. Do you still get a time out if sync initiated from your iPhone?
  • I continue to have very unreliable syncing (or is it synchronizing) with my iPhone (6S) and Sapphire 5 (2.9). After a 4 hour hike a few days ago (which involved about a 1.5 hour pause and resume in the middle, it would not sync at all after dozens of attempts. Sometime much later in the day it finally did on its own. Today, finished a 10 mile run and 3 hours later it still gives a sync error in Garmin Connect on my phone. When I go into Garmin Connect under Settings, thenSync Report, Error Details at the bottom of each report shows: Error Domain=GCMSyncErrorDomain Code=7 "Device Disconnected". I'm not getting a Disconnected alert on the watch and seems like I am still getting notifications on the watch. The phone is only a few feet from the watch. I am on vacation this week so won't be able to try how it works via USB or wifi, but my wifi sync reliability has been very poor also.

If no one else else is having these issues I'm thinking at this point it is a watch hardware issue.
