Smart notifications - erratic email notifications

I have a Fenix 5S and previously a Forerunner 630 which shared the same problem.

My watch is connected to an iPhone and I receive Smart Notifications. Whenever I unlock my phone, I suddenly get about 10 e-mail notifications on my watch, even though the e-mails are old e-mails which I have already read on my phone. I use the normal Mail app on the iPhone which fetches e-mails from my Gmail account every 15 mins.

It's quite annoying. Does anyone else have this issue?

I am sorry to say, no issues for me. I am using firmware 2.9 on Fenix 5. Latest iPhone iOS. Initially, I didn't get any email notifications but that was because I turned off all notifications for email. Once I enabled, they started to pop-up. Just one of each. Not 10 copies.

Make sure you have your notifications setup on your iPhone to show on the lock screen. Then when the phone is locked you will be notified of incoming emails and texts etc. I had this off before and had the same things happening

Try to find from the settings.
