Transferring Maps from Edge to 5x

Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer previous Map purchases from a device like an Edge 810 to the Fenix 5x?

A few years ago I bought full UK OS maps for the edge but when I right click on the map package and then install maps in BaseCamp it says no lockable maps available for this device. I presume this means it can't be transferred?

Correct. Those maps are either locked to the device or the card they're supplied on.

Pretty disappointing considering the amount we are being charged for the maps...oh well such is life

Did wonder about that myself as the only Garmin device have got OS maps on (and indeed could have) is also an Edge 810.

Also wonder why Garmin's OS maps are so expensive. Ones I use from another vendor on my iPhone and PC are 25% of the price for say whole of UK at 1:50,000 scale and you can also get all the 25K ones for less than the 50K ones from Garmin.
