Here you go. The quality is fairly good, but if you're used to viewranger or the OS app, you might be a bit disappointed. The base images are much less clean in basecamp than other sources, and the fenix screen doesn't display contours or other light coloured elements. Paths and darker features are clear though, so fine for following a trail, but I wouldn't want it to be my only source of mapping. Price per area is good though.
It's the town centre of Dorking in Surrey - quite a good example as there are contour lines and tree symbols in the park which you'll be able to see on the original map, but don't show on the watch.
looks fairly good - but as you say it misses out contours and even the blue pond/lake isn't filled in ? It's possible that if you were out on the hills you might just get a blank screen :(
I'm guessing that the OSM might actually be more useful - which is a shame.
Ive just installed the GB OS mapping. Firstly although it zooms from 1:25000 out to 1:50000 the quality is, in my opinion, pretty poor on the F5X, especially around town. The installed topo maps are pretty good and the OSM downloadable maps much better.
Im surprised how less clear the GB OS mapping is on the F5X than the gps map64, I was expecting some degrading but not as much as is current.
I also wouldnt rely on it for nav, Ill be using the layered contours map plus the installed TOPOs and downloading the necessary OSM mapping tiles when needed.
