Connected... not connected... connected... not connected; weak bluetooth signal

My old Fenix 3 HR would stay connected to my phone via bluetooth at least twice as far as my new F5. Did Garmin decide to gimp the bluetooth transceiver on the F5? It literally buzzes all day long... sometimes when I'm walking only 15 feet away from it. Yes, I can turn off the notification but I really liked how my old Fenix 3 HR would buzz and warn me when I left my phone behind. Nice feature to have. Would hate to lose that feature because of a gimped BT transceiver. I'm hoping that my unit is just defective. Any others here that had a Fenix 3 HR and now have a F5 experiencing the same?

So I replaced my F5 with a F5S, mostly because it kept disconnecting from my iPhone 7plus while in my pocket.

Well today while on a bike ride it kept disconnecting then connecting over and over at about the rate it takes to read this sentence. It was constantly reminding me that something is terribly wrong.

Now I will go through the motions with support to properly resolve this as it cannot be acceptable or normal. I really want this to work

Today I am update Fenix 5 to 3.30. Nothing changes with Bluetooth. The same problem.
  • Unfortunately there is no fix. The fact that Garmin has not done anything to address it proves that this is a hardware limitation. The watch will always have a very weak bluetooth connection. I can't even cross my arms without my watch disconnecting. You would think for $700 the bluetooth performance would be adequate. I was hoping that Garmin would at least introduce a unique buzz pattern to the "disconnected/connected" alert so that I don't keep thinking a message came through when it's just disconnected again. But even that is apparently asking for too much.

As i mentionned in an other thread, if you're an Android 5.0+ user, do you have the app optimisation turned on (under Battery) and if yes, do you see Connect (garmin connect) listed as optimised? Say disable for this app.

I had 1 or 2 disconnect since almost 24h only and maybe because of the range.
Had issues during an activity but i suspect GCM to be the cause of it. I will give an other try tonight after removing it.

    Keep you posted.

    We made some measurements.
Fenix 3 synchronize of 3-time radius more, then Fenix 5.

And i still can't get Livetrack working, it freezes for kms after starting, eventually transmit a position then again once i stop the activity.

I can only link to bluetooth
