Fenix 5X Disassembly with Photos

For those who are interested in the internals of their new Fenix 5X, I've put together a disassembly post. Please don't disassemble your Fenix 5X as this would void your warranty and break the waterproof seal. This post is written as a guide, though is not intended to be used as one.

First things first, mask up the entire watch using masking tape. Its not uncommon for your screw driver to slip and cause unnecessary scratches. Then proceed to evenly remove the screws surround the screen.

Next, very careful lift screen 5-10mm to reveal the mainboard which the screen is connected to using a ribbon cable.Using tweezers remove the tape protecting the connector and lift to remove the connector and screen.

Were in! Next remove the ribbon cable on the bottom left and the two screws holding in the mainboard.

Any chance of the recipe for the meal in the second photo? Looks more interesting than a dissected Fenix 5X.

well, i just ran the part number and it is definitely a Fenix 5x main board.. so if this is a April fools joke, he was dedicated.

Oooh, awesome... Would love to try some playing and modding with the gps antenna :D

You'll scratch it eventually some day. :D That's why I hesitate to buy Fenix 5X. I'll buy such an expensive device to see scratches on it? Not sure. If you can finish your teardown with detailed product brand and models of chips inside I maybe won't buy it and wait for a metal color one, that won't show its scratches like black models. That's why I bought silver Fenix3 and want to buy such model again.

Yeah, there are some 5s models etc. but without maps I don't need to change my F3.

It seems the disassembler broke or someway turned the watch into something non useful or non watch anymore. :D

Hope it didn't fall in the food, and if it did, that it wasn't eaten. Don't really want to know what the 5X would look like after that.. :)
Edit: forgot to mention the most important of all: please do post the rest of the disassembly!
