Move Alert ??

How does the Move Alert work ? I have it on, but sometimes I am moving around doing things and the Move Alert comes on telling me to move ? Other times it works as it should. I don't really think this works as expected. I like the idea, but I just don't think it's really working correctly.

The other day I went mountain biking in the morning, I got home took a shower and sat for a little and the move alert went on. It would be nice if it recognized or took into account an earlier activity, so it would pop up after a certain time frame allowed from the previous activity. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but it would be nice..

Anyone experience this issue ?

Somewhere I did a whole post about this, but from what I see, it works as it should, but can be a bit confusing if you are new.

The move alert will come on even if you move, but just not enough. It takes about 100 steps/hours to keep it off. Now that's also not just any 100 steps. With Garmin devices, if you do less than 10 steps at a time, they really aren't counted (Garmin tries to suppress "false steps", and if you do less than 10, they aren't counted. Once you do 10 or more, you get credit for those first 10).

When clearing the move bar, you have to clear them all, with little or no stopping (the large one is ~100 steps, and the smaller ones, ~25 each) So with all 5, ~200 steps.

Thank you for the explanation. As I said earlier, I wish it would take into account past activities. It's frustrating that it tells you to move after a two hour activity, if I sit for a while.

The move alert/move bar, by design, is "what have you done for me lately?". You can triple your step goal in a day, and sit down for an hour to watch TV, and you'll get the move bar.

I think the theory is you should move every hour when ever you are awake, as other wise you could hit your goal by lunch and just sit for the next 12 hours otherwise...
