5X wrist-based HR wildly innacurate

Just upgraded from the 3 to the 5X and was super eager to see how well the wrist-based HR compared to the chest strap. I've seen some really solid comparisons, but I couldn't have been more disappointed. The 5X was 30 - 60 BPM higher than the chest strap on the 3.

Has anyone else seen this? a few BPM here and there is one thing, but 50 is something else entirely. I'm incredibly discouraged and on the verge of returning the 5X as a result of this. Which is a shame, because I otherwise love the thing.

What bands are folks using? For 24x7 as well as for activities?

Considering upgrading from a Fenix 3 but keen to use the same (metal) band for 24x7 including activities - will the OHR work though? Or is a silicon buckle strap band required?
