Impressed....

So my 5x got here today.... as I was about to leave to go run. Thus, I didn't get it set up the way I like it, but took it anyway.

In no particular order:

1. Garmin *finally* implemented the "gesture" separate for watch mode and activity! Thank you! This was one of my BIG complaints with the F3; you couldn't have the gesture only on for "in activity, after sunset", which is exactly when (and only when!) I want the gesture movement to turn the backlight on.

2. It's much faster than the F3 to respond. Me like.

3. I notice nothing different in terms of it on my wrist. Feels like my F3. No complaints.

4. I'm not sure I like the soft strap. I put a two-piece NATO on it when I got home and will decide in a few days. Then again I was sort of "meh" on the F3 soft strap, same deal. The quick-change feature is nice and appears to be very secure on the bar.

5. GPS tracks appear to be roughly equal to a bit better than the F3. However, it defaulted to "Smart" mode. I'm going to switch it to 1-second recording and see if it's better, as that's how I had my F3 set.

6. The wrist-based HRM seems to work well. I do have a HRM-RUN however and used it for my run this evening; all worked as expected there.

7. My favorite Watch Face (X-WF) is not compatible. Boo hiss. That's not Garmin's fault though.... I found something functional for now.

More as I get some more time with this thing....
