Hourly chime

... I am bringing this feature request up for the 5 line as well.

Unfortunately no F3 update has brought this one to life.

So, pretty please, any chance we get hourly chime notification to the 5 line. Simple beep every hour,
with FROM / TO window, Weekdays, weekend . . . that would be great.

My understanding is that developers have no access to the watch face to control sounds,
so this one goes to the Garmin.

Anyone else fancy this?

Thank you,
Mike
  • Can't think of anything worse than a beep every hour...on anything.
  • Native watchfaces (at least on some devices) run in their own special low power core, while CIQ ones in the main core in the FW's Low Power mode. CIQ watchfaces are limited in what they can do, how often the can update, etc. It may just come down to "it's all about the battery life"

I don't want this feature and I think there's far more important things to code than this.
  • Oh please, no. I hate these things. Being in concerts, or movies, or a quiet working environment, when the top of the hour comes round and a spatter of poorly synchronised beeps goes off. Most of the features people want, even if I don't want them, I don't need to use them; these get forced on everyone in earshot.
  • beep beep

    Simple beep every hour,

Ah, reminds me of the great 80s where everybody had digital watches that beeped every hour. In class it started 2 minutes before the hour and lasted 3-4 minutes since GPS-sync and accuracy was a thing of the future at that time.

Yes, that what my understanding is. The energy. I do have a few Protrek's and use it regulary during a day. My friend is a teacher and use it, as well. I knew about a person needs to take medication every hour within certain time frame and uses Protreks. Few of the F3 users asked for it before. Not possible to set the watch to be able at least receive notifications from your iDevice if you use one - other then programm your hourly alerts as events. For the the rest of the " oh no" crowd, this one was ment as an option you can switch on/off.

As a member of the "oh no!" crowd, it's not an option that I can disable that I'm objecting to, it's the fact that others have the option not to disable it

I, too, have had the experience of being in a quiet place and being subjected to a discordant symphony of hourly chimes - and often a lesser concert of annoyance on the half hour.

My hope is that this feature is not available on any watch ever again.

    :p
  • Gaijin you too? My Casio Protrek, ABC forum favourite pal, my chances are doomed for good now :-)

I am willing to downgrade my request to hourly vrrr vrrr vibration then.

And I would enthusiastically support you in that endeavor ;)
