footpod auto calibration

With the fenix 3 I was never able to get automatic calibration of footpods to work. Consensus seemed to be that it worked, but only under a very specific set of conditions. Is there any information yet about how footpod auto calibration will work with the F5 watches? My guess is it is too early to tell, but I’m putting this out there incase an early adopter has an opportunity to test it.
  • The foot pod auto calibration worked for me on the F3, but only after one of the software updates in Spring 2016 improved/broadened the detection algorithm, and it seems to be working in exactly the same way on the F5 (I believe it took a lot longer to bring the fix to the F3 HR).
  • A friend of mine with an F5 has auto-calibration working with the MileStone BLE footpod (running beta software). 'It just worked' apparently.

  • 1st run with the F5 today. I checked the calibration before the run and it auto-calibrated my Stryd to 983.

The F3 after multiple runs settled out at 985.

There were issues with F3HR auto calibration but I had it working on mine from atleast July 2016 onwards. Now I have an F5 and it worked with the installed software on delivery (v2.4) and also tied to the auto caleb factor on a 735..... This is for a Garmin Foot Pod

That's great news. I was hoping to be able to use the milestone footpods eventually. I as told that BLE footpod support MIGHT be added but wasn't going to be shipping with the watch. I'm glad to hear that was incorrect. My 5X arrives today. I'll be testing this out myself this week.
  • Just one thing, you need to email milestone at the support address and request the beta firmware. They then send it to your account and next time you sync with the pod it updates.

Yes, thank you, already done. I've been using milestone pods with zwift's beta running mode. If I can use them with my 5X also I'll be all set.

Fenix 5x and Garmin Foot Pod

I've had the F5x for about a week now and this morning was the first time I ran outside with Garmin's foot pod paired. I had it set to auto calibration. Before I started my run the calibration factor was preset to 100 and after my run it had auto-calibrated to 97.4.
  • I have foot pod with fenix 5 and auto calibration, at the moment with no problems, as with fenix 3.
I have a question, If the auto calibration or manual calibration occurs when I am running at 4:30 min / km and I want to run at 3: 30min / km or 5min / km, is the pedometer accurate?
  • footpod vs v02max

Could you tell me if you use footpod vo2max is lower than when you don't use foot pod ?

I observe this issue on my fenix 3hr from long time . When I run with footpod i have 48-52vo2max without footpod 54-56
This happen after 20 running trennings it is takes 2 weeks
