Fenix 5 v2.40 : No HR data from Polar H7 ?

So I decided to try to get HR data from my Polar H7 and sure enough it is recognized by the F5 (with a smart bluetooth background!) but then no HR data comes though. I checked that I could get HR data from the H7 on my smartphone so it appears to be working properly. Anyone else have that problem ?

UDPATED 25/03 :

Status of BT Heartrate Monitors :

1. BT Only devices :
- Polar H7 : connects but no HR data comes through
2. Dual ANT+/BT :
- Wahoo TICKR : connects over either ANT+ or BT (seen as Dual BT/ANT+ device by the F5), HR data comes through in both modes
- Cardiosport : connects over either ANT+ or BT (seen as Dual BT/ANT+ device by the F5), HR data comes through in both modes
- Viiiiva : connects only over ANT+ (not seen as as a Dual BT/ANT+ device by the F5), HR data comes through in ANT+
  • Same here and all tricks in the book attempted, there must be some type of hardware variation that's causing these problems.
  • My issues with polar H7 disconnections were resolved by getting a new strap (just the strap)
I also reset it and removed and re paired it with the F5
Since then it is working fine
However, your case seems more like the one I face with another (non polar) BT strap, which gets connected but no data are displayed
This strap is working just fine with my phone and suunto however
Haven't found a solution for that however

I am updated to software 2.90 with my Fenix and still no luck getting my H7 to work with my Fenix 5. Did all the resets etc. It is very strange as the H7 works with ALL the other Bluetooth devices that support BT4.0 out there. There should not really be a need to disconnect it form all other devices if the watch says: Connected. However, my also says connected and then NO-HR data

Another thing i noted is that while in the settings menu it connects and disconnects the whole time. My suspicion is there is a problem with how BT is implemented. I hope Garmin will react to this... Not good enough in a €600 watch

I will say that I have 2 Polar H7 transmitters.

One works and the other I have never gotten to pair consistently, despite changing battery etc. etc.

This shouldn't be the case but there it is.
  • The same problem with FR935 here. My Polar H7 pairs and connects fine but no HR data at all. Resetting the H7 didn't make a difference. My H7 is fairly old (bought in late 2013), so I wonder if it has something to do with the firmware version.
  • The new beta v 2.96 brings an update to the BT sensor (from 2.7 to 2.9)
Hopefully this will fix many of the issues reported with BT/ANT+ disconnections

    Any further updates on this?

I have just purchased a F5 Sapphire running software version 4.10 but I am having the same problem with my Polar H7.
Don't want to have to buy a new HRM if i can help it.

Mine is working just fine. Try removing it from the sensors menu, reset the H7 as well and re pair it

Thanks mate have tried this and still no luck.
I have tried also excluding it from other devices as well but still nothing.

The only thing I have not tried is a factory reset of my F5 - Does any one know what data is lost when you do this?

Luke don't waste your time resetting the F5 - you will lose a bunch of settings like V02max and it won't solve your issues with the H7.
It's been discussed elsewhere (I don't have the link at hand sorry but it's in one of the other forums) and the problem is there appears to be two hardware versions of the H7.
One of these works just fine with the F5 and the other one doesn't.

You could try doing a full reset of the H7 (pull the battery out, wait 10 mins then short the power (use a metal pin to connect the two battery terminals) before trying to re-pair it with your watch.
If that doesn't work then you're fully out of luck sorry.

I have two Polar H7s. One worked for displaying HR on the watch, and the other didn't. I also found that when the one H7 was connected to my phone showing HR via a polar app, etc, it would not display HR on the watch at the same time. It appears to allow only one or the other. I'd love to be able to display live HR from the H7 on the phone and watch at the same time, but it doesn't appear that we can. Has anyone been able to display HR on both devices at the same time? Thanks!
