No vibrations for phone notifications and activity alerts

Just curious if everyone with the Fenix 5 are experiencing vibration issues or if its certain models or what not.
I have the 5 and the vibration works when the alarm goes off but not for phone notifications or activity alerts (run/walk, pace etc...).
As I have seen in some other threads the notifications work for a bit, then once a sync happens it turns off.

I sent an email to Garmin regarding this so hopefully it will be a quick fix.
  • SO how do you attach to wifi from the Garmin Connect Mobile App?

The only time I saw somewhere to add WIFI was when I did the install via the Garmin Express app on my PC.

That's the only place you can setup Wifi.
  • This is veering off topic for this thread, so I'll quickly answer here but if there needs to more discussion of the WiFi function then probably best for you to start a new thread. WiFi can only be set up in Garmin Express (as I think you've found), but that is part of the beauty of WiFi sync as you can go for a run without your phone and sync your activity with your home router the second you walk in the door. To connect your Fenix 5 to one of the WiFi networks out previously configured in GE and sync, on the watch go Settings>Wi-Fi>Connect to Wi-Fi or you can set up a hot key that will initiate the WiFi sync (settings>system>Hot Keys). Hopefully that will get you going.
  • Same frustration

    Here's a longer thread about it: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?371871-Notification-issue-on-new-5-possibly/page2

My Vibration setting keeps getting disabled when I sync the watch. It looks like a firmware bug to me.

Here's what I do to fix it temporarily. On the watch itself, go to:
Settings -> System -> Sounds -> Vibration -> Turn on

I have the same issue. And agree this works until the first sync. But the fix is very temporary. After every sync vibration switches off. So if I am running with the watch that means pretty soon after I start running. And vibration is turned to "on" in the watch, GC Mobile (iOS) and GC website before this happens, and remains "on" in the latter two after. (Although the GC webpage also behaves oddly: I can't toggle key vibrate on it.) Agreed it is frustrating.
  • I also have this issue. Using iPhone for Connect mobile and fenix 5. No matter how I set the vibrating alert on the watch, mobile or web, each time it syncs it turns off vibrating alerts.
  • Vibration alerts

Mine just started working again today. Seems to be fine after a couple syncs. I'm on iOS 10.

Yeah mine to, hope it will stay on hehe

I had the issue for couple days, the very last time I had the issue was this morning. Since then, it seems to stay "vibe on". Did Garmin already correct it?
  • Mine seems to have been resolved as well! From what I can tell, I didn't receieve an F5 update and my GCM app didn't update either. Perhaps it was a setting on the server side?

    Anyway, I'm happy now. :)
  • I can also confirm that the Alert Vibration setting is now correctly transferring to the watch from Garmin Connect regardless of what the Alert Tones setting is in Garmin Connect. Nothing's changed in the watch software, so this must be something changed at the Garmin Connect server end.

Now all that needs to be fixed is that it's a 2 way sync rather than Garmin Connect always wins relationship; as it is, there's no point in changing any of the settings on the watch if they are in the device settings in Garmin Connect, as the settings you change on the watch will simply be overwritten by the Garmin Connect ones at the next sync (as it is now). The most important of these is Alarms; you really don't want to set an alarm or alarms on the watch to wake you up early for an important event, to find they didn't go off because Garmin Connect deleted them at the next sync
  • Same Problem but with Alarms

Is anyone experiencing a similar problem with their alarms? I set each alarm to vibrate only, but after each sync, it goes back to tone and vibrate. There is no setting in GCM to say which way. Quite frustrating.
