For those of you wondering about the Fenix 5 performance on a triathlon, today I just used it to track IM 70.3 Puerto Rico. I raced with it and brought my trusty 735XT with me for comparison. Background:
Fenix 5 Sapphire:
- HRM-TRI
- Tempe
- Duotrap S (1st ride with auto setup, no wheel size defined)
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1629518804
735xt:
- On-wrist HR
- Tempe
- Duotrap S - (no wheel size defined, but multiple rides already)
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1629783951
Results:
- Swim (F5 = 2224, 735=2165 yards)
- Bike (F5 = 55.54, 735=55.7 miles)
- Run (F5 = 12.95, 735=12.98 miles)
Overall, I'm very happy with the performance of the watch. It was pretty sharp under sunlight, and very quick to response. Didn't see any issue with connectivity. Need now to look at those GPS tracks and pace difference between the 2.
And before somebody ask... I'm definitely not a pro, and I know my run sacked! But bear with me, I just started running 5 weeks ago after a 3 month hiatus due to a femur neck stress fracture!
