The 5x is really a great gadget,
a lot of memory, a fast processor, the display is absolut brilliant in the brightest sunlight, great navigating and mapping capabilities, the fw is very stable. I started with the fenix (1); still own a fenix 2,3 and epix. The 5x fits perfect my needs! I use it for hiking and biking (with tempe and hr belt sensor), I don`t need the whole fitness/sports stuff.
You can load and chose different maps for different apps (for example topo Germany v7 is enabled for hiking, openmtbmap is enabled for biking), you are able to set different avoidances (depends on app) and route calculations methods (minimize time/minimize distance/minimize ascent).
The loading cable isn`t made for loading while wearing and using it on the wrist, but to be honest: 12/14 hrs of using it with gps and mapping is much and and the fewest will be on the road/hike etc. for a longer time without a break. You can charge it during a break, in about 30 minutes about 25%. If you use it on the original garmin bike mount kit, you can even load it while using it for a hike etc. (must be placed to the left of the mount). But maybe we see a angled cable from a third party company, soon.
The gps accuracy is good (for me and my needs). I am very happy with my 5x! Great work, fw-team!
