Does numerical seconds use more battery

Hi all,

Just wondered if on the digital face using the numerical seconds display (instead of the dots around the edge of the display) uses more battery?

I wonder as the way these screens work seems to mean that this would be refreshing more as it's refreshing numbers all the time as opposed to dots creeping round the edge that stay there a lot?

Thanks for any advice.
  • It will likely be like the Fenix 3. The default (built in) watch faces on the F3 do not run on the main processor, instead they run on a much lower power processor which doesn't have enough memory to run Connect IQ watch faces. It is explained in a post at the bottom of this thread a little more fully. Even then displaying a constantly updating second hand in low power mode will use more power than not but I doubt you would notice this in practice.
  • On the F3, if you used the BatteryGauge IQ widget, you could see that the Garmin analogue faces used slightly more battery than their digital faces, maybe 1% a day. Updating more pixels, and maybe more processor load to do so as well as the screen factor. The difference between dot markers and small numbers would probably be less, so probably negligible, but that widget would be the way to check.
