Unfortunately, while Australia seems to get equal treatment with other brands (eg. Apple), we seem to be a bit down the list with Garmin. Has anyone seen stock in Australia?
I think that was just Garmin making excuses for Australia not being as important as other markets.... I doubt any customisation is performed, apart from loading Australia specific maps on the 5X.
Aren't you concern with the warranty mate? With AUS consumer protection law you can basically have a premium warranty through Garmin, not to mention RMA issues you can face. Not worth the risk for me...

How frustrating! I did not get an email from them, I didn't get the email about paying the balance either. I had to call when I got suspicious that units were dropping in the U.S and I hadn't heard from them. I'll be making a call then tomorrow! Can you copy and paste the email here?

Great news! We've received notification from Garmin Australia that we'll be receiving initial stock of the fenix 5 range within 48 hours to fulfil your pre-order. Therefore we will be posting out your order via Express Post to your designated address as soon as stock arrives, or calling you to let you know that your order is ready for collection if you previously chose local pickup.
If you purchased a QuickFit band at the same time, please note that they are still a couple of weeks away. We will dispatch the QuickFit bands separately at a later stage so as to not hold up your fenix 5. Are you able to advise / confirm if that's the only model they have in stock. I am eagerly awaiting delivery of a fenix 5 Sapphire - Grey with Metal Band version from them?
Best to contact them to ask.... I just got an email from them confirming that model was now in stock. Their website still says early April for most models.
Johnny Appleseed has the F5 Slate Grey with black band in stock now, if anyone is interested.

Bit scared of the issues the watch will come with though... Threads from US & EU users regarding all the bugs don't look particularly encouraging. Guess we'll see for ourselves soon enough.
Definitely Aussie retailer. Two of their stores are within 10 minutes of my office in Brisbane. Nice people to deal with. Sadly, my watch is from the USA, as I was falsely led to believe (mostly by Garmin not giving out info) that stock would not be available for 4-6 weeks. I normally buy all my gear from them. Great company to deal with.
They are Garmin approved, no grey market stuff etc.
