Which screen protector for Fenix 5 in the UK

Does anybody have any advice on the best screen protector available for the Fenix 5 that is available to buy now in the UK? I'd like to have this available to put on when my watch arrives.
  • how cna someone comment on the best available when no one even has the device lol

Oh I'm sorry I thought people posting videos, previews, testers etc actually had the device. I didn't realise they were using non existing products. I also assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that the screen diameter specifications had been published somewhere and somebody may have a rare circular screen device used for telling the time somewhere in the world that they may have added a screen protector to. How silly of me. I now realise there are in fact zero people that are able to answer so this topic may as well be closed. Thank you for taking the time to reply and correcting this obvious error however.
  • I had some cheap screen protector from amazon uk for a couple of weeks when i first got my fenix 3 back in 2015.

the protector got scratchy pretty quick so i removed it and i can tell you there is not a single mark on my display after almost 2 years.
I have been wearing the device day and night and I have not been carefull, been wearing it when doing carpeting and other stuff.

And I dont have the sapphire version.

However I do have a friend who totally smashed the display of the f3 sapphire.

I guess it comes down to luck/unluck but the display glass, even without sapphire, is of excellent quality.
  • Thanks. I've been wearing the Vivoactive HR for 6 months now and just checked out the screen. You're right, I can't even see any tiniest of micro scratches. That re-assures me that I may be able to do without.
  • I got a va when it first came out, and a va-hr when it came out and a fr 230 when it came out. I mainly wear the va-hr these days, but at times also the va or 230. No screen protects on any of them, and not a scratch on any (YMMV)

I am a mountain biker and sometimes on trails I get brushed up by branches and such which can potentially cause some scratching of the watch face.
I decided to do some reading about this and came up with what I feel is the best shield for me. I am also getting the Fenix 5 and want to do what I can to keep it free of scratches, this is what I found..

I have read about some other shield turning yellow over time if in sunlight, or others that cloud up or even start bubbling or pealing off depending on climate.
This one ,I feel has the best outcome during many different situations as from what I have read..

I am going to order mine as soon as I get a delivery date for my Fenix 5, along with some Nato Straps.

As far as the dimensions, they had this months ago for all the Fenix 5 series.

Wow a bit sensitive? I have been looking myself but so far the fine print has always said something along the lines of "should ship around April 1". My guess is the manufacturers of the screen protectors aren't going to spend lots of money mass producing them without having them to physically test first regardless of what outside and 'screen' dimensions are published. I'd guess Garmin is much more interested in getting them in the hands of end users to test firmware and functionality than sending them out for the "aftermarket" to make products for them.
  • Interesting that the FR230 and VAHR owners don't have any scratches, I didn't take any chances with mine after getting a few scratches on my old FR610. Don't get a plastic one (Savvies) as they look bad very quickly, the Brotect AirGlass has been perfect on both the FR235 and the VAHR, completely invisible and provide peace of mind for 4€, what's not to like ;-)
