How does MoveIQ work?

I would think one of the ideas of MoveIQ is to remove to the need to manually start an activity. But I'm guess it wouldn't automatically start GPS after 10 min if it thought I was biking (in which case I would have lost the first 10 min of potential GPS tracking anyway). I like the idea but seems like not useful for activities you would want accurate data on. Am I missing something here?
  • If its like the on the va-hr, it kind of does things after the fact when you sync. It looks for a pattern in the data, and guesses at what you are doing, and adds it to your calendar, but doesn't mark it as an actual activity, and doesn't do anything like start up GPS (again, it looks at the data after a normal sync, much less know if you are inside our outside). The guesses could also be off - there were posts about digging holes and planting things being marked as swimming, etc. On the va-hr, I have it off and always start an actual activity.

Maybe they made it smarter on these devices, and I guess time will tell!
  • Yes MoveIQ is a bit of a mystery with items popping up on the "calendar" on GCM and on the "timeline" on GC. You just get the sport identified and the duration of the activity. I haven't seen a summary of these activities which would be a nice touch.
