47mm + sapphire performer bundle more expensive than 5x and a chest strap?

Why would I pay more for less watch?

A 5 with sapphire glass and performer bundle is $799.

The 5x is $699 + a chest strap would be around the same $ as above

That pricing doesn't make sense. Am I wrong on this? Aside from being a little tinier, why would I want to pay the same for less features?

I think many people consider the smaller size and weight a feature. That, an extra band, and slightly better battery life.

But the price is probably the result of focus group studies done by marketing rather than determined by manufacturing cost.

So those would be the only differences, right? With that in mind I'm now up in the air as to which I'd prefer.
  • Apparently it's the HRM-TRI strap and it's sold for $130 on Amazon. If you don't need the underwater data logging the HRM-RUN sells for $96.

Thanks! I guess at that point it's a toss up as I only need running and I'm not interested in maps. Well, I guess I don't know which would have better battery life but so far I'm thinking the 5x + running chest strap will be the same for me as the 5 performance sapphire package.
