Has it shipped yet. Has it shipped yet. Has it shipped yet.

Just like an aggravating, but anxious kid.

I was happy with my 405, then the 410, then maybe 605, 610, F2, now F3. F3 works for the most part. Its crashed on me. Its locked up on me. But I still like it. It does much more than I need, but I can live with that. the 5x does even more than I need. But I dont know if I'd like maps or not. But I do like the idea of more memory and faster processor. That spells future proof usually. I might not like mapping. Ok. so I may not use it. I might not like the OHRM, though I hope it works. If not. So be it. I really really hope it wont lock up during my next 50miler, 100k or 100miler. That really blows. It blows that I cant charge it while its on my wrist. But eh... I can hold it while charging, or faster it to my pack. Ultras are hard, holding a while during recharge. Cake. I'm excited. I'm prepping my F3 for resale, hoping to reduce the chunk the F5x is setting me back. But my preorder is in.

Peace!

I gave up on Amazon. Usually they are on top of it with preorders, but I've never preordered a Garmin product with them before.

I really like the *financing their card offers for something like this and the return policy if it's broken. I guess I don't feel that bad, being somewhat new to this arena, I think the only other place I'd feel good about ordering from would be the Garmin website but it's not there yet either.
  • Amazon, REI, CT, some spots in the UK, etc -- all have some pre-order availability...even showing shipping dates...?

While Garmin's website currently still shows "Estimated availability is 3-5 weeks" and has no "Buy" button, just a spot to enter an email address and the text says "Email me when this product is available"

Could it be these other sites are opening pre-orders prematurely, and things won't really start flowing until after 5x is shipping direct from Garmin?

Well considering that I have a tracking number from REI for mine and it's moving toward my house I'd say "no".... :-)

When is your delivery date? Mine is supposed to arrive at the Garmin store tomorrow but I haven't received a shipping update yet.
  • Rei

Thursday. REI shipped it UPS ground (their call, since it had a zero shipping charge)

Mine was supposed to arrive on Thursday but someone messed up so now it is arriving on Monday. Few more days to wait. Not a big deal really. And UPS has it so should be ok.
  • Mine shipped from REI yesterday with a delivery date of Thursdays.

And this is my weekend to work so I won't get to put it to use until Monday
  • Did the same canceled my Fenix 5X metal Jan 4th order through CT and went with REI. They only had the standard silicone band 5X in stock so I just ordered that one and figured I could order a metal band when they are available. REI website still shows the standard band Fenix 5X in stock, they must have received a good supply :)

Ordered from REI last night and the silicone strap was on backorder. I must have missed the in stock time frame.

Placed an order through Amazon a few hours ago, waiting to see who delivers first. If i had known Clevertraining would take longer (April and early March) I would have also pre ordered from Amazon and REI a few weeks ago.

I took a gamble and put a special order in through ABK.

I am hoping that with their pull they are able to get one unit from garmin relatively quickly. They quoted me the same time frame as most of the other stores who have release dates listed mid April. There is a chance they can snag on watch earlier though do to the volume of garmin products they sell. However they did mention that Garmin is having fulfillment issues due to the fact that they were not expecting the 5X to be the top seller of the 3 watches. Hence why most retailers have a steady stream of 5's in stock.

My guess is they are ramping up production and distribution of the 5X and they will pivot to promoting the 5X as their flagship model in the near future.

    Update for Australian customers

Apparently (I have confirmed this with two retailers now) stock for Australia has been pushed back approx. another 6 weeks. While one or two retailers may get some stock later next week, it is likely not to be enough to satisfy even a small percentage of pre-orders.
  • For the F5X DWI (Digital World International) currently list for $879 AUS with additional $20 discount till 19th March. Purchased many times in past with no issues.

What maps would it come with built in. China/HK ?
