Has it shipped yet. Has it shipped yet. Has it shipped yet.

Just like an aggravating, but anxious kid.

I was happy with my 405, then the 410, then maybe 605, 610, F2, now F3. F3 works for the most part. Its crashed on me. Its locked up on me. But I still like it. It does much more than I need, but I can live with that. the 5x does even more than I need. But I dont know if I'd like maps or not. But I do like the idea of more memory and faster processor. That spells future proof usually. I might not like mapping. Ok. so I may not use it. I might not like the OHRM, though I hope it works. If not. So be it. I really really hope it wont lock up during my next 50miler, 100k or 100miler. That really blows. It blows that I cant charge it while its on my wrist. But eh... I can hold it while charging, or faster it to my pack. Ultras are hard, holding a while during recharge. Cake. I'm excited. I'm prepping my F3 for resale, hoping to reduce the chunk the F5x is setting me back. But my preorder is in.

Peace!
  • I will go to other brand, but others doesn't make the cadence and RPM sensor.

I own a Styrd as well as a wahoo tickr-x and use Strava. I personally don't have that big of an issue splitting up info into different places if it means what I get is accurate. The 5X just might be that product; I just was making the point that one singular company isn't the reason I buy something. I buy what works best first, everything else is secondary. Hell, if Fitbit were to release something like the Surge 2 and it's better than the 5X, then i'd buy that too.
  • No problem, as long as you don't want the Australian topo maps, which are an extra $200 if you buy them separately. If you need the cycling maps, add another $60. None of the imported or "grey market" stuff will have correct maps, but that is only an issue with the 5X.

I had ordered from Evergreen, who advised that for warranty they would send a replacement etc and you could ship the watch back. They were great to deal with, but the issue of returning a watch to the USA (on the slight chance it will fail) was enough to turn me away. However, they were amazing while discussing this and I wish they were local!

This made me nervous even though I am unsure of the source of the information. I have not been able to confirm what goes on with the maps, for example if I was traveling, and given I expect the maps to be managed by Garmin Express it is regionally aware. I have none the less cancelled my order with Amazon and ordered with Pushy's and will just have to be patient.

I understand the willingness to change brands but I'm not sure I understand why you're getting a 5X in the first place? The only reason to get the 5X over the 5 is for the mapping. But the Actofit you mentioned doesn't even have GPS, does it? If you don't need GPS, I'm not sure why someone would want the heavier 5X with mapping.

Does anyone have a source for the 5X that is shipping now or that will be shipping soon? Where would you recommend ordering from? CT says it will be shipping on April 4th. Amazon has no shipping update as far as I know. Best buy won't take preorders.

I am returning my faulty 3HR today and I want to replace it as quickly as possible.

I don't want to conflate an issue here or detract much from the meaning from this thread anymore than I have to. So, for me the mapping is niffty and the weight/size isn't all the big of a issue. I own a F3HR and this isn't much more. the mapping then just means more for my money as the 5 with sahp glass is the same cost. Do I need that (the glass)? Not really, but again, the cost isn't much of an issue for me currently (I've saved and budgeted for a replacement to the F3hr).

As for the actofit not having gps, well that goes back to what I had brought up in my 1st message. That particular watch maps exercise movements (75 right now) and breaks down parts of the body in terms of work, training effect, cal burn...and it does it without having to input it (allegedly, I haven't got mine yet). A lot of what I do involves routines that I would like more data other than training effect/calories/HR info. For running/cycling as I said, a chest strap, my stryd and Strava (via my phone's gps) cover the other side of the work done for me and i'm alright with having to piecemeal info...if that means that info is well...more informative? That's the best way I can put it :P

Now while I mentioned cost for me wasn't currently the issue, the actofit was oodles cheaper, like a fraction of the cost, but with potential to fill a need I want from a device that my F3HR never really did. If it does what I need of it, then yea I have no need for the 5x (or any of the models). If it doesn't, well, the 5x is the evolutionary model that fits what I do now and i'm already well over a year invested in the ecosystem. I just hope it fixes the problems I personally had with the F3HR (and I am just speaking for myself, before the righteous thunder gets thrown down upon me as it happens to be the case on this forum).

It's the reason I was waiting for REI to open presales: I am not going to get stuck with something that I have to make the best of because the window to return and get my money back closed. I hope that answered your point.

Out of the 5X unfortunately. I found the 5X in stock from a shady grey market Chinese source $679 shipped. Probably will take a month to ship but I decided to give it a shot. My bank is already prepped for a charge back though. Hopefully I can find it in stock somewhere soon. My 3HR goes back to best buy tomorrow morning.

I am in Australia and so frustrated with the lack of clarity on when we will be receiving stock. I ordered from Evergreen, as they seem to be one of the few who will ship to Australia. Realised afterwards it will not have Australian maps (damn!), but because it will end up about $50 cheaper than here, hopefully that will cover some of the map cost. At least I know it is coming now!

I pre-ordered mine from Highly Tuned Athletes. I have ordered many times from HTA before without issue. They are an authorised dealer and sell Australian stock. Mine is due next week and the link I gave is for pre-order of the second batch.
  • I ordered my from CLever Training on 1/9

I preordered mine for Clever Training on 1/9
I am also wondering. But not really frustrated. Anxious yes. Frustrated no. I've come to expect this after similar pre reception hype on the F2 and F3. I will be here soon enough, in the meantime, let those that got them first generate the first round to field trial data/bugs to Garmin

I have an order in at Johnny Appleseed. Will keep my fingers crossed they arrive soon, as I am currently without a watch. I nearly shipped one from Evergreen in the USA, but stopped when I realised there could be warranty issues and no Aussie maps etc. However, given the level of service they displayed, if I was in the USA I would be using them. Johnny Appleseed have always been good to deal with, so I will persist and wait until they get stock. I just wish Australia was supplied equally with other countries.
