Has it shipped yet. Has it shipped yet. Has it shipped yet.

Just like an aggravating, but anxious kid.

I was happy with my 405, then the 410, then maybe 605, 610, F2, now F3. F3 works for the most part. Its crashed on me. Its locked up on me. But I still like it. It does much more than I need, but I can live with that. the 5x does even more than I need. But I dont know if I'd like maps or not. But I do like the idea of more memory and faster processor. That spells future proof usually. I might not like mapping. Ok. so I may not use it. I might not like the OHRM, though I hope it works. If not. So be it. I really really hope it wont lock up during my next 50miler, 100k or 100miler. That really blows. It blows that I cant charge it while its on my wrist. But eh... I can hold it while charging, or faster it to my pack. Ultras are hard, holding a while during recharge. Cake. I'm excited. I'm prepping my F3 for resale, hoping to reduce the chunk the F5x is setting me back. But my preorder is in.

Peace!
  • Or nobody is updating the status on the web site.
  • Something must have happened to delay their plans. They've been saying available in 5 to 8 weeks for 5 to 8 weeks now. Has to be either hardware or software change.

This must be your first time preordering a big Garmin product. It was exact same thing with the Fenix 3. It's just the default listing they put on their site. I told people not to go by that. The best information is word of mouth from different retailers and insiders like raymaker

Yes you're right about that. The last two Garmin devices I bought were the Fenix 3 and the Oregon 600, both of which were out at the time. Have you heard any word of mouth updates? I understand one Canadian store was estimating in stock March 2.

Seemed like something must have happened. Thanks very much for posting this!
  • Actually, when announced the only date I saw from Garmin was "by the end of 1Q", and not March 1. I think the March 1 may have come from retailers.
  • Not sure where that site gets their info from, but Ray at DCRainmaker posted today that Mid-March for the initial release is still in play. Clever training is hearing the same thing as of today.

Ray also uploaded a detailed unboxing video of all three F5's.

It appears that site is basically speculating based on using new order dates. It looks like they took today + 5-8 weeks for new orders and magically came up with April.

Everything points to March from every possible avenue I hear/talk to: Garmin themselves, other media (The Verge just got units today), Garmin again (they offered Casey Neistat units to be delivered today), and then retailers too.

Which, is exactly what they said up front: End of Q1 (which is March). They also noted up front that not all SKU's (models) will ship on day 1 in full quantities, but will be based on demand. With 13 SKU's, there's a lot of models to cover. That's pretty much what we saw with Apple Watch Gen 1 and Series 2 as a reminder, some models were more plentiful than others.
  • Thanks for the clarification. I suspected the same, which is what sent me over to your blog to ask the question.

Can't wait to get my F5.

Yep, spotted that one on twitter- must be awesome to be in a position to just say ' I wish I had one of these' and not only have it hand delivered the next day but have tomtom and Garmin fall over themselves to offer free trips to Europe as well! Not seen any Garmin Connect tracks show up yet though!!!
