Fenix 5S for a man

I admit it, I have small wrists. I've worn the 42mm (the larger size) of the Apple Watch and I think it looks like the right size for me so I am thinking the 5S will be the best choice (42 also vs 47/51 for the 5/5X) for me. For a watch I would wear most the time and likely even at night the smaller size brings advantages in weight too, any other men thinking to get the 5S? The Garmin site makes such a big deal over the 5S being their new design for women that it gives me pause but I think that many mens watches are 42mm or even smaller in the real world...
  • CANYONBLUE737 we're glad to hear about your interest in the fenix 5S and would like to confirm that this model is meant for all users. (I am looking forward to this myself as I too have smaller wrists) Our site calls out that this is a smaller design with the feature-set that our users have enjoyed in the fenix series previously and is not intended to discourage any male customers from looking at this product.
  • My husband and I both wear Fenix 3 HRs and he is actually interested in the 5s because of the 42mm size. He would like to be able to wear the Fenix more often but the 3HR he finds too big on the wrist.
I pre ordered a 5x because of the mapping feature, I am hoping it there won't be a huge difference as the 3HRs size. ( i only wear mine for activities)

I own a Huawei smartwatch which is a 42mm watch. To get a size comparison with the 49mm Chronos I took this photo. Considering the F5 is 2mm smaller, it will give an indication of what will be sitting on your wrist.

  • As a tall man with skinny monkey arms and finds the F3 okay but wishes it was smaller, I've been trying to figure out how much difference there actually is between the three sizes of F5. So earlier today printed and cutout circles of 42mm & 47mm and laid them on top of my F3.

The 5S is a tad smaller than the diameter of the high point on the bezel of the F3, and the standard F5 a bit larger than that.

    I will join you ;-)

My wrists are very small as well. I had the F3 but returned it since it was too big for me. Now I'm using the 735xt which fits me much better. Only thing to comment about for the F5S (S for Sport, Slim or whatever?) is that I'd like the metal bracelet in silver and not champagne. This is where the girls-gene maybe got a little too far ;-) I'll have to wait and see for real before I'll buy...
  • Ray just posted a bunch of comparison photos between Fenix 3HR, 5s, 5, 5x, and 735xt. Looking at the pictures, 5s is the way to go for me...short guy and smaller wrists. :-) 5s is very close to the 735xt, which I found to be very comfortable.

  • Nice pics from DCR. I agree that size-wise the 5S looks very similar to 735. Had it not been for the tabs (don't the word for these) where to click the bracelet. I'm not sure I find this ok. Looking at the Chronos, it's clear the tabs are much smaller. Had the F5S only been like that, I would have placed a pre-order right now. Maybe it's just me?! At least I will have to wait to see real life...

I had been leaning toward the 5, but that 5S in black/silver looks awfully sharp. I'd hate to give up the screen real estate though. Decisions, decisions...
  • I was undecided between the 5 and 5S but those DCR photos seals it for the 5s for me. However I'll still be waiting until at least June before making the purchase. The wrist shots were perfect since it looks like Ray's wrists are only a bit larger than mine.

I've got the silver bezel on my F3 and will go the same route with the F5S, just hope that at some point they'll come out with the slate grey band that they show for the F5 for the 5S.
  • Another man here with small wrists here. The Fenix 3 was too bulky for me but the 5s is looking like more of my size.
