U.K. Pricing

Ok so the pricing finally appeared and £770 for the 5X watch is kinda crazy but I can see what they're thinking. £45 for one watch strap though? Are Garmin on crack?! For a rubber watch strap. £45. Unbelievable.

    Do you think they will bring out a silver titanium version?
  • I just preordered from Cotswold with one of their 15% off discounts (GBP 630 - 15%) as a RYA member.

    despite they had huge issues with the Fenix 3HR pre-orders - I hope it will be better this time around ...
  • I am thinking of doing the same- in spite of my concerns about GPS accuracy being at the same level as the F3/F3HR.
    I may wait a little longer for CO to list the metal band model as well.

    one could hope that with Bluetooth support - Garmin could add data from external Bluetooth devices :) to increase precision in "hard areas"
  • Considering some of Garmin's other devices- including FR735XT and my current Vivoactive HR, better accuracy is clearly achievable. To me, they messed up big time at the F3 design stage with that horrible antenna.
    Hopefully they will rectify that mistake with the new watches- let's see if Garmin learn from their mistakes at all..

    Having agonised over getting a 3HR in the summer of last year and then holding back deciding F4 would probably not be too far away, then learning about the F5X and following the limited info that's available for it at the moment I've decided to take the plunge and pre-order from Cotswolds Outdoor. This will be my first smart watch so lets hope it isn't a let down after all this anticipation.

    Haven't seen many claims about Chronos user complaining about accuracy so I would assume the Fenix 5 series would be as good.
  • I have no idea where this blogger may have got his information from about the internal construction of the Chronos, but if it is accurate then they've done a lot of work to make incremental improvements in the GPS signal chain. Can't remember where I was reading recently about TomTom saying that internal shielding was really critical to getting GPS right, and that sounds like one of the things that has been focused on.

    Owning a F3 and Vivoactive HR I find the F3 vastly superior to the Vivoactive HR in a trail environment
  • Preorder placed!

    Fenix 5X Sapphire preorder placed! My original idea was to wait it all out and see some actual user feedback first but I ended up preordering the 5X (as I half expected would be the case eventually);
    I have a small discount with Cotswold Outdoor and ended up paying £567 (actually 521.64 after 8% cashback from Topcashback);

    Let the waiting game begin!
