£45 for one watch strap though?
They keep telling us on the news to finally expect Brexit induced price rises in 2017..... a pint of milk will be £45 also by July apparently :D.
But seriously, the official Garmin bands for the Fenix series have been gradually creeping up in their premium pricing over the last 2 years, so with the addition of a quick release mechanism this time it's to be expected. Only market forces will tell if this is priced too high to strike the right balance for Garmin between volume sold and profit per unit.
Ironically I prefer the old bolted in straps so far from being worth a premium I actually don't think I'd trust a £770 watch to a little plastic flap. Perhaps £5 is strap and £40 is insurance for lost watches...
0,3£ for the rupper, 0,7£ for quick fit and the rest is profit...
I totally agree, crazy...
It's $699.99 on Amazon US (pre-ordering). It's easy to have it shipped to Oregon (zero US sales tax), and then have it Fedex'd to the UK for $30.
At today's exchange rate, it should cost around £600. Albeit with a risk that UK customs will randomly select the parcel for UK import duty.
It's £630 for a 5X in the variant that's $699 on Amazon; £770 also buys you the (seriously insanely expensive) metal strap. Most of the prices are in the UK press release, which is easier to follow than clicking through the F5 options on the website.
