Release date thread

I think it will be good to have one central place to have the latest news people here about the updated release date. DCR said it looks like early March. The garmin site says 5-8 weeks but thats the default time on all new products. Everywhere I read it says "By end of Q1" which is the end of March. Rei still doesnt have it listed yet either. Has anyone heard anything more specific?
  • I used to have a 20% discount before but that has now gone down to 15%; it seems Garmin lowered their discounts across the board.

    National Trust discount

I was going to preorder at cotswold but i'd liek the grey/yellow on as it doesnt have the red highlights the greay/slate on has....

Had a quick look at discount codes thought and can get 15% with my blue light card and waiting to gget a code from nastional trust to see what discout they will get. I'll preoder if the yellow one becomes aviable and with the biggest discount,

what coddes have you guys been using?

    National Trust is 15%
  • Where the heck is the Fenix 5 models for REI? I'm waiting on them, they are usually the first to ship out in the US. Plus I want my $70 back in credit toward a new tent :)
  • Cotswold had an exclusive on the F3 when it was first thread in the UK, and I would not be surprised if the same is true for the 5.

if you want it fast do NOT order with Cotswold - I pre-ordered my 3HR very early - and got it about 2-3 weeks AFTER i could have bought it from other retailers. But can't argue with the price you get when you have coupon codes.

So I ordered with Cotswold - and do not expect to be the first to get the 5 - rather one of the last but at a reasonable price.
  • I wonder what I was trying to type for my phone to come up with "thread" in the post you quoted there?

I think it's still pretty clear that I was talking about the possibility that Cotswold had an exclusive, as they did with the 3. Garmin do this quite often with launches in the UK - Sweatshop have had them with various Forerunner releases. Given that Cotswold are the only company actually showing it for UK sale at present, that looks likely. Given that other companies were getting the 3HR out ahead of Cotswold, if there was an exclusive, somebody else had it.

Kind of annoying having to figure out who has the exclusive if you want the first one off the boat.

Once REI has a confirmation from Garmin that an order will be received within 30 days REI releases it for pre order. I have talked to REI product team and as of late they have had a hard time getting Garmin to commit and when committed sticking to it...sounds like the Bro-Mance might be strained.

That's not what happened with the original fenix 3 - I got mine almost immediately. Sometimes the pre-orders exceed the allocated stock so that does cause delays. If you want one early pre-order early. I think when I pre-ordered my F5X last week I was the 8th pre-order so I should get one from the original batch (I hope!)

Cotswold seemed to operate on a first come first serve basis when the F3 was fist released. I ordered on the 16th Jan '15 and it was delivered on the 25th Feb. Not bad at all for a pre-release. They were great with updates and info on their delivery batches too. You snooze, you loose....

I was no 8 or 9 dependent on who I spoke to for the 3HR according to Cotswold. They just did not get stock for the 3HR before everybody else had them.

Fair enough. Sounds like they didn't have the initial UK exclusive with the F3HR like they they did with the F3 (and F2 before it).
