Release date thread

I think it will be good to have one central place to have the latest news people here about the updated release date. DCR said it looks like early March. The garmin site says 5-8 weeks but thats the default time on all new products. Everywhere I read it says "By end of Q1" which is the end of March. Rei still doesnt have it listed yet either. Has anyone heard anything more specific?
  • Just checked all the options on amazon.com (5S, 5, 5+sapphire, 5X) and they are claiming Feb 21 availability for all of them, which I find a bit hard to believe. Probably an data entry error somewhere from amazon.

Seems to be they fixed that already, now it says:"This item has not yet been released. "

It seems to depend on which browser you use. On Chrome, I don't see a date, whereas it is still showing 21/2 on Safari. Weird. Both are still saying it is available for pre-order, but there is a date on Safari.

I see it, you're right. So it +1 for amazon mistake I guess :)
  • If the page is still in the browsers' cache, it may show out-of-date information. If you delete the cookies / cache and then reload the page, you should have current date. I would be surprised if different browsers had different basic information.

EDIT: Just saw the previous post. I stand corrected --- surprised, but corrected :)

Ray (DC Rainmaker) has commented that it is extremely unlikely that the Amazon release dates are correct and he seems to have current information from Garmin. Based on his comments, it would appear the date shown may be in error.
  • Amazon US still shows no availability date.

    HTH

It said February 21, 2017 yesterday, and still today ON MY BROWSER, WITH ME LOGGED IN:

Amazon shows different information to different people depending on whether you're logged in, your browsing/purchase history, Amazon's cookies on your PC, the browser you are using, your browser cache, and who knows what else. For me, and the OP, it did indeed say Feb 21, 2017. For you, it did not.

A statement like "Amazon US still shows no availability date." is too broad. Different people will get different information depending on many factors.
  • If you look closely, you can spot a Fenix 5s in DCR's latest blog entry. (Hint, look at the dessert pictures.) I suspect he's currently testing production units.

Which do you think is ACCURATE?

Congratulations to those who manage to effect shipment from Amazon US today ... :p

I don't think Amazon likes you dude.

(Mine still shows 21st Feb). But as we've already said, numerous times, this is likely to be an error.
  • Amazon will have it 21 Feb 2018 😜. Anyone with pre-order at cotswold outdoor who have checked with them recently?
