Release date thread

I think it will be good to have one central place to have the latest news people here about the updated release date. DCR said it looks like early March. The garmin site says 5-8 weeks but thats the default time on all new products. Everywhere I read it says "By end of Q1" which is the end of March. Rei still doesnt have it listed yet either. Has anyone heard anything more specific?
  • I would advise against using a discount code, unless you have the right to do it. I have heard of Cotswold Outdoor refusing returns or exchanges on discovering that the buyer found the discount code online/does not have proof that they are associated with the organisation that has the discount in question. As for delivery- CO are normally among the first retailers to be allocated stock, so the answer is yes.

Great that they have now listed the Fenix 5X on the website- I will wait until they have the metal band version as well. The only thing that is stopping me from committing at this stage is my concern about GPS accuracy and whether they worked on fixing the GPS issues many experienced with the Fenix 3/3HR, myself included.

I would agree if the code is one specific to a particular organisation (these tend to offer the largest discounts) but there are codes kicking about that are released by Cotswold themselves to get people to spend money with them. Nothing wrong with those.

Delivery wise, they dispatched my F3 on the 24th Feb 2015 which was quite early. I bought my F2 from them also and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
  • Cotswold had an exclusive on the F3 when it was first available in the UK, and I would not be surprised if the same is true for the 5.
  • Yeah, that's right. The organisation I am affiliated with used to have a 20% discount but it was, unfortunately, brought down to 15% mid last year.
OAC, DWT and GO Outdoors all have a smaller discount than before at 10% or 15%.
  • Shame not all the F5 models have been released yet. I'm after the silver. Heard the F3 grey had a problem with scratches on the bezel

They have, but not with sapphire glass. I think I will be waiting for a silver one with sapphire glass and either leather strap or silver steelband..

I have had my F3HR since April 2015. Not a single scratch or dent on the bezel. And it is on 24x7 except when I'm charging it. So I would not worry about it in normal use. I swim, bike run, hike, paddle, backcountry ski (telemark) to name a few. So the watch has seen other than suit sleeves too.

    National Trust discount

Hopefully Cotswold Outdoor will be selling them. I bought my F2 and F3 from them, good for affiliated discounts too.

Spoke too soon, indeed they are... Fenix 5

I think National Trust members get 15% discount at Cotswold.

Yes sorry I was referring to Cotswold Outdoor, seems they only have the grey...
  • I was going to preorder at cotswold but i'd liek the grey/yellow on as it doesnt have the red highlights the greay/slate on has....

Had a quick look at discount codes thought and can get 15% with my blue light card and waiting to gget a code from nastional trust to see what discout they will get. I'll preoder if the yellow one becomes aviable and with the biggest discount,
