Garmin Support, can we expect more software support for this watch? Or you made it obsolete and now is a piece of junk?
Or you are eco-friendly and you will support as long as possible?

Why is the watch obsolete without further updates? My F5+ works rock solid with 19.30, battery life is still similar to day 1 after almost 5 years. A friend still uses my F3, which is now 8 years old.…
On the topic of fighting obsolescence, some great OSM maps can be found on userbeam.de. Also if you have battery life issues after some years of use, you can also swap in a new battery (F5 series is the last…
Hello. Am new to the forum. My Fenix 5 plus has been struggling to connect to GPS for a few weeks. So much so that it is off by more than 1km on a 7km run. Anyone experiencing this? Running 19.30. Tha…

You are right, I meant updates for bugs and security issues.... or even maps....
Of course updates would be nice, but I must admit that I did not percieve any differences with the last updates and I assume that cyber security is more an issue for the phone app then for the watch.
As maps are not only updated for one device, I hope that there well be map updates in the future. If not, the big advantage of Garmin watches is the option to install OSM-maps from any source and there are really good versions available for free.
I am quite relaxed, because I did nor really expect that I would use the watch for such a long time, but the additional features of the newer watches do not really convince me to upgrade.

Also if you have battery life issues after some years of use, you can also swap in a new battery (F5 series is the last Fenix series that has a battery with a connector, 6 onwards have soldered batteries). I was able to fit the PiJuice Zero lipo battery (600mAh) into the case, which has a higher capacity than the stock F5X+ battery (430mAh).

That's bad news. I did not know that. Never opened a 6 or 7 series watch yet. I thought there was a battery connector visible in this photo on the left, but on closer inspection, now I see it is a piece of tape partially obscuring a solder blob. I prefer not to solder in a watch.
Hope not, half my data doesn’t sync anymore after 19.30 update. Worked flawlessly until I updated the firmware to 19.30 on 31 December.
Anyone else had this?
