I was just wondering. Mine is pretty good and stable right now. I was thinking of upgrading to a F6X Pro when the F7 comes out. Do you folks have plans like this?

About the only thing I don't like is how slow it is to calculate a route when starting an activity navigating a course. But that's not enough to make me fork out for an upgrade.

F6Pro is not a whole lot faster calculating ad-hoc navigation…
I love mine. Still does everything i need or want it too. So will probably keep it till it dies then upgrade.
I'm happy. I'm in fact so happy that I'll probably keep my 5+ until F7 drops in price in a couple of years. I see little in F6 that would make me switch (ok, the bigger battery and screen in the X version maybe, I have just the plain 5+).
Same here. Gonna switch in 2-3 years to F7.
I am also very happy with my Fenix 5 plus:
There is no "must have feature" I miss. What would make me by a new (and more expensive device) would be:
As an experienced endurance sports guy I don't need all those gimmicks like Body Battery etc., so I definitely skip the Fenix 6 line (as I did with the F2 and F5) and look forward to the features of the successor.

Probably you selected "Use map" in the routing settings. Then the watch matches the course to the ways on the map, which takes a long time. It also recalculates when you leave the course.
Select "use course" and the navigation starts immediately! This has to be changed in each app separately.
The menu words might be a little different, I use German on the watch and I don't know the exact phrases in English.
That's interesting. I use the routeCourse CIQ app, and the recommendation is to "Use map" in order to get tbt instructions.
For me the build in navigation works great and I see no reason to use a third party and accordi ng to your statement slow app. Tracks can be easily uploaded in Garmin Connect (Android) and then sent to the watch. Tbt notifications are generated automatically in that case. This works well and only rarely a notification is missing. There are also options to use cources which include tbt data.
Yes, very happy. Does everything I need and is reliable in the functions I use. What bugs me is that the charging cable isn't connecting to the watch properly anymore. It's tricky to connect it at the moment and it's getting worse little by little until eventually the watch doesn't charge anymore. I've had the same problem with every Garmin I've owned and can't shake the feeling that this is by design to nudge you towards buying a new watch
I am on my third Garmin charger cable and have decided to test one of these.

So far they work pretty well and it seems always to charge when I hook up my Feinix to it.
