My Fenix 5 sucks, For what I paid for this device, it should be much better with tracking heart rate. Last week it was 80 beats off for the entire workout. It is a piece of junk.

I need help with this watch. When I purchased the watch early on I contacted customer service to let them know the HRM is way off. It is like it is not tracking my heart at all. At rest it is showing my heart rate in the 114's and during workouts it is showing my heart rate in the 50's....I explained this to the customer rep early on after I purchased the watch and he tried to explain away my complaints or give me excuses why this was happening. The watch has always been like this and I stopped wearing it for a while because it was of no use to me. I was not getting any where with customer service so i was like what is the use?? $750 down the drain I guess.
Recently I have had some health issues and the doctor wants me to track my heart rate during exercise to keep my heart rate in the proper zone. With his advice, I started using the watch again. But again it is not functioning properly. I can see if the watch had an error with in 10 to 15 beats per minute, but there is something significantly wrong with the watch. The watch is sometimes like 70 beats per minute off.
I am very frustrated with the customer service department with regards to my complaint. I think the watch needs to be looked at or replaced.
Please let me know what we can do about this watch.

The new Garmin Fenix 5. Garmin has taken its big, aggressive, I Am A Serious Outdoors Person line of Fenix multisport watches and shrunk it into something that looks a little less obtrusive. It was also designed with women in mind...

Even following these guidelines, many posts here will state, optical wrist-based HRMs will never be as accurate as a chest strap.

If you continue to not be well read by your watch OHR sensor, please re-consider contacting Outdoor Product Support again. Your first conversation you already had with us, we will educate you on what to expect and the behavior of an OHR sensor etc. but when an issue continues, we then proceed forward to either a warranty exchange or depending on our research of your recorded activities, sometimes a heart rate strap is best.
Please use the Outdoor Product Support contact information on the bottom of the Support Center article to reach out.
