Compass issues

Recently I have noticed that compass in my Garmin Fenix 5x Plus is not working properly 9sort of stuc in one direction). Furthermore calibration fails also. When I do a hard reset- it works without a problem for a week or two. And then back to not working.

Anyone else has the same issues?

I have contacted garmin and they said this is a hardware problem. Is it possible for a hardware problem to be corrected by hard reset?

  • Have you got a steel strap paired with it.... that would effect the compass negatively....

Other than that if Garmin says its a hardware issue it probably is...if its out of warranty.. Garmin will probably offer you a refurbished unit at a price...

    All the best..

  • I am sorry you are having a compass issue. It is a hardware issue since the calibration fails. If you choose to, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support again in your region to look into options.

  • Hi there

First-thank you for responding. Secondly-it was not a hardware problem as you have suspected. It wasn't also stricte software problem. I have uninstalled some OEM maps, and the compass is working properly without a hiccup.
