corrupt brick activity .fit file again

Hi all,

Yesterday I performed again a brick activity with multiple bike rides, transitions and runs. I have recorded such activity for the third time this year and it is the second time my Fenix 5 plus made a corrupt fit. file, which i can not repair by my self. Note, that multiple familiar activities were successfully recorded last year and also one time this year between the two corrupted recordings. Besides some automatic software updates, I have nothing changed at the settings by myself. Therefore, I have two questions.

1. Can somebody help repair again the corrupt .fit file on this One-Drive link?

2. Does anyone have an idea how I can prevent that my watch will make a corrupt file next time I record a multisport activity?

Thank you very much in advance,

Dennis

  • I can't repair it for you. But my software (using standard FIT file library from ThisIsAnt) can parse the file correctly, so there is a good chance that someone is able to repair it for you.

As far as I can see there are over 5000 records, and 25 parts cycling, transition and running. If the 25 parts is correct, the file is complete.

  • Thanks for looking at the file and trying to repair it.

Maybe I forgot to mention, but I can read the basics of the file with my watch. However, I can not upload the activity to Garmin Connect. Additionally, I have to remove the file from the watch before I can successfully sync the watch and connect/express again.

  • , I took a look at your file using Fit File Repair Tool, which can fix all kinds of corrupt fit file issues. I had to click through a lot of these messages to complete the analyzation process.

Here's the result. I was able to upload this successfully to Garmin Connect - 2021-04-22-17-10-09-fixed.zip

Download, unzip, then import into Garmin Connect using the import data page. There were 7 cycling, 6 running, and 12 transition parts.

Not sure if it's the type of activity or something else, but this is the typical suggestion:

    • Backup, then remove the files in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder on the device’s file system using these directions: Removing Recorded Activities on a Garmin Fitness Device If you delete the files in your activity folder with a Mac computer, then empty the trash folder before you unplug your device from the computer.
    • Try to avoid excessive button presses during your activity.
    • Regularly check for firmware updates using Garmin Express
    • If issues with corrupt files persist, contact Garmin Support.
  • Hi,

Sorry for the delayed answer. Thanks for the repaired activity anyway, i successfully uploaded it again.

I had not made a back up, but i removed the corrupt file by the suggested way and have all updates. Maybe, I have still to many button presses / too short mini activity. I hope these two times are still unfortunate and next time I will also go to garmin support. Thanks for the feedback!

  • The problem is that part of the latitude and longitude values have been corrupted making it jump to the equator whereas most of the route centers around Eindhoven..

  • The problem is that part of the latitude and longitude values have been corrupted making it jump to the equator whereas most of the route centers around Eindhoven..Converting this to a gpx file will will enable you to import it into Basecamp and edit the track yourself.
