Assistance feature not working!

Hello!

I'm new here. I'll jump quickly into my situation. I have upcoming hikes where I am abroad now. I decided to test the assistance functionality on my 5X plus DLC and can't get it to work. I set up my contacts on the Garmin Connect app and synced my phone. After long pressing the light button, assistance is activated. It gets my location and afterward stays stuck at the "send" screen. More than 10 times I have had to manually cancel. I updated to the 15.00 PRC and the problem still persists. I would appreciate any help and thanks!

Is your phone on with GCM open?

I tried your suggestion to confirm and it still won't work. Also checked all the permissions on my phone. I guess I'll hike today without the feature working.

Perhaps I should have added that your watch also needs to be connected to GCM too. Is it syncing with GCM?

For some unexplicable reason, apparently the watch won't simply tell your phone to send emergency SMS with your coordinates, but it needs a data connection (dumb): you wrote you are abroad, do you have data roaming disabled?

Please note: if you are referring to the automatic incident detection vs. the manually triggered option, it is available only for outdoor walk, run, and bike activity apps.

Also, if using an iPhone, you must keep your Connect Mobile APP open at all times. The feature uses your smartphone's cellular connection to send SMS messages from your phone, to those you have setup within your Garmin Connect account.
