  • During a running activity, the laps now audio report as one, one, four, five (for a lap time of 11:45), instead of eleven forty five.

  • Do you get your audio prompts direct from the watch or via the phone?

I get my audio prompts via an Android device. I had a similar behaviour a few days ago during a walk but with my f6X (16.10 FW). However the lap audio prompts returned to normal at lap 4 (4km) prompt. I also noticed that the voice for the first three prompts was the wrong one.

  • I got them through my headphones, which I did have linked to my cell phone (android Pixel 4xl). I also got normal ones on lap 4, but I think 5, was back to the one, one, four, five. I have not done one with the headphones tied directly to the watch, eliminating the cell, I would not think that it matters, but it might. I will give that a try this week. Did not notice the voice being different, but it could have been.

  • This may be a Garmin Connect Mobile for Android and/or Google Text-to-Speech problem.

Using the option to test audio prompts from within Garmin Connect Mobile for Edge 1030 Plus, which has not had a firmware update for several months, the audio prompts were as you described and in an unfamiliar English dialect. (For the Edge 1030 Plus there is no option to select the spoken language in Garmin Connect Mobile for Android, it uses the voice set in Google Text-to-Speech.)

Regardless of what English dialect I selected in Google Text-to-Speech, the test audio prompt was still wrong and in the same unfamiliar dialect. Only after I changed the language to French (Canadian) in Google Text-to-Speech, tested from Garmin Connect Mobile, and returned to English did the test audio prompt from Garmin Connect Mobile return to normal and with the correct dialect.

  • Went for a walk with my f6X this evening and the lap audio prompts were wrong for the first two laps, correct for lap 3, and wrong again for lap 4.

  • I did not use my phone (just paired my headphones directly to the watch) and the time prompts were correct, so it could be something to with connecting through the phone.

  • Hey Garmin, is this moving to official firmware version at some point? It's been public release candidate for a while
