Open snow map project on Fenix 5s plus

Hi community Grinning

I am a new user of Garmin Fenix 5s plus. It is my first watch.

I want to add the opensnowmap (http://www.opensnowmap.org) which contains ski maps in my Garmin watch.

If I understand it is only possible to download the map in « .osm » format (on this page : http://www.opensnowmap.org/iframes/data.html) while the watch asks « .img » file format.

Do you know if is it possible or not to use open snow map on my watch ? If it is possible how to proceed ?

Thanks a lot !

Have a good evening Wink

  • As I know OpenSnowMaps doesn't have its own data and pulls the data from OpenStreetMap project. So, maybe it's not possible to download OpenSnowMaps maps directly on to the watch. However, you may download maps from sources using the same data source. For example I prefer maps from opentopomap.org which uses the data from OpenStreetMap but displays it in a more topographical map style. So I advice checking it and see if it works for you.

Also, there are different ways to render the OSM data in a design you like in your own computer. However, this is a bit longer and harder way.
