Fenix 5 Plus - Not showing activity details

Hi everyone, today I ran a 10K and as always, I saved the activity on my watch and it showed me all the metrics of my run.
Later today I realized that the activity was not uploaded to garmin connect on my phone nor my computer with the watch connected and syncronized.

I checked the activity history on my watch and I can see the activity for the 10k but the watch doesn't show its details, only totals. Garmin connect doesn't show the activity, not even the totals.

I ran a 21k on Saturday with no problems. Did a quick session on Sunday with no problems also. Both activities are stored correctly on my watch with all their details, garming connect show them just fine.

I had to input the activity on garmin connect manually,

Any idea what happened ?

I am sorry you had an issue with the 10K run activity on your Fenix 5 Plus series watch. The issue suggests that one run activity file had a corruption issue. It could also interfere with a future saved activity syncing properly.

The best prevention of further issues will be to delete all .FIT files in your Garmin > Activity folder. All it takes is 1 bad file to cause further sync issues. If your issue was only that one bad .FIT file for the 10K run, then clearing the folder will be enough to resolve your issue and future saved activities should properly sync again.

If you can insert the FIT file into your post, we might be able to repair it so it will be accepted by Garmin Connect.

Insert -> Image/video/file -> Upload.

This will work - 2021-03-16-07-24-15-fixed.fit

Tested this by importing into Garmin Connect. Then make sure you've cleared all the FIT files in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder per Chris's advice.

You guys really need to update your instructions for deleting files from Garmin devices connected to MacOS computers. It is simply not good enough to state that a PC is needed as has been stated in the support document you referenced. While it might not be as straight forward for MacOS users it can be done as has been noted on many occasions in various posts.

MacOS users need to download Android File Transfer or similar. Then, ensuring Garmin Express is fully shutdown (not running in the background) connect the watch to have the MTP device mounted and gain access to the necessary files and folders.

it's about time that this information was added to all your support and information pages.

My gut instinct on the most likely reasons why we do not mention Android File Transfer is that the software is not our own, the software is not Apples, and the default Mac OS does not recognize the MTP protocol.

I have personally brought up Android File Transfer many times over many, many years and my only logical conclusion is that there is a reason we do not add the information into our Support Center articles.

In which case at least remove the instruction that a Windows PC must be used.

Indeed, also a Linux PC works just as well.
