Fenix 5 Plus bluetooth headphones issues with 14.+ software

Hi,

After upgrading my Fenix 5X Plus Software to 14.00 several months ago (along with BLE/ANT) I am having issues with logging activities when playing music from my smartwatch.

Tried several different options, and also different Bluetooth Headphones (Skullcandy, Bose, Samsung), factory reset, all the upgrades made - no results.

When playing music from Fenix over Bluetooth, activities such as Walk and Running (tried those two and that should be enough to spot the issue) - I am starting the activity and in most cases (90% of tries) and Fenix is not tracking the movement (GPS only and GPS + Glonass, Intelligent saving and 1-second saving - same issue) - what is more disappointing I can't stop the activity (save or discard options will last forever) so the only option is to restart the watch (45 second button push).

When I am starting the activity and GPS is tracking - I can open Music and play - but only one song - then I need to manually play another one (even with repeat all and shuffle all selected).

Has anyone experienced the same? The case happens regardless of having my mobile with me or not.

I am considering the downgrade to 13.00 as back then everything worked.

Tried beta 14.71 and 14.72 - not resolved.

Garmin Support - not helpful - the only recommendation is to perform Garmin Express updates.

  • Following posts from this forum, I think I resolved the issue - did the following and now music works fine for me (Garmin Fenix 5 Plus) - backed up everything that was possible, then performed factory reset, removed every .img file from the GARMIN folder - restarted - uploaded Maps through Garmin Express - restored data, settings and now I can enjoy music during the training again
