DataRun Premium 4 - how do I stop the every few seconds buzz and tone?

Hi -

I have the problem that when I have the display showing on my

Fenix 5S Plus

it buzzes with a beep every few seconds - wearing my battery down way too quickly for a long run. Any suggestions please?

Some facts that may help with trouble-shooting:

  • I'm connecting my watch to my Stryd Pod ("wind calculation" version), and the power metrics display great on the DataRun watch display.
  • I thought it might be that the DataRun believed I was still using a demo version, but I spoke with Joop and got some new codes, and DataRun is showing a full display after a 45 min run, so I'm pretty sure DataRun knows I'm using the version I paid for (??).
  • I have set "Boundaries for Warning Signal" alarm in the Garmin Express ConnectIQ dialog to something very broad, 40W to 500W (I always run in that range), so I wouldn't expect the buzzes and tones to be triggered for that reason.
    • I have c0 and c1 in Garmin Express, I set the "Boundaries for Warning Signal" alarm to 40W-500W for both (I'm not actually sure which one is being displayed on my watch).
  • I don't get the buzz and beep if my watch is displaying a different data field (i.e., Stryd's Power display, or Heart Rate, maps, etc.)

Thanks for any help!

  • Hi -

Any thoughts anyone please? Datarun Premium4 c1 and Garmin 5S Plus.

    Thanks!

  • You deducted clearly that all the buzz and beep must be related to Datarun. Since it is when you display it.

Although I also use a datafield from Joop, namely DU8-10, I am sorry, but never used its warning signal tool .

Why dont you simply switch off the “Play sound as warning signal for operating out of powerzone” or the similar setting in your version ?????

  • Btw I would tell, and Joop can confirm it, that the datafields of that copy version which is NOT shown may be NOT calculated.

So practically your power may be zero for C1, if you display C0, and vice versa.

  • Hi Alexis,

It's best to send me a mail when you experience a problem, using the email address you have of me or through "contact developer" option on the app page in the app store. Luckily mailed me that you had a problem (thanks!).

First: alerts can be put off while running by quickly pressing the startbutton twice quickly. However, that is not a good solution, if you have to do that every run.

Setting the powerzone to 40W to 500W should be enough to get no alerts. Could it be that you have in C1 the setting set to 40:500 instead of 040:500?

If that's not the cause, could it be that you have chosen the option "Workout based on times and zones with repeats or max 18 steps....." at the setting "Select workout type, for power alerts during workout"?

Like wrote, only the datafield that is visible can produce alerts!

    Regards, Joop

  • Thank you, Joop @GHG23!

Yes indeed, I had set it to 40:500, rather than 040:500. After fixing that my run today was without buzz/beep, hooray!

Next step is to set the out of range alert interval back to 5 seconds (from a very large number), and the lower limit up to a more reasonable power. I think this will be fine.

    Thanks again!
