New records every day?

I never paid much attention to this feature so I'm not sure how it should work, but after every run the F5+ congratulates me on new records (fastest 1K, 5K, 10K..), which is flattering, but often not true (records slower than they were before). It gives a whole new dimension to the 'beat yesterday' theme however. :-) It is not something I am desperate to see fixed, but if anyone knows, I'd like to hear about it.

  • I believe these records are based off of the history on the watch, not Garmin Connect. I typically see these "records" after a factory reset. These do not change the records that are in Garmin Connect Records.

But I agree, it would be nice that the watch had some knowledge of the actual records. For me, to at least have the option to save or discard the record when it shows up. Since I have zero chance of getting any PRs at this point in my running career, it's motivating to see sometimes. Older man

  • I would be demoralized to see my old PRs on the watch, I've never been more than a middle-of-the-pack runner, but now I'd be happy to not finish last (if there were any races).

Indeed the records are based on what is on the watch. It's now working as expected (only new records if better than previous).

Somehow all old records on the watch from before December 12 were deleted. Not sure why. I synced with Express for the first and only time to update maps, maybe that caused it.
