Training Status no longer working after the latest 14.00 update

Hi,

Basically, I have two devices, an edge 1030 and the fenix 5 plus, with the fenix 5 plus I'm not receiving training load and training status updates when I perform training sessions on the edge 1030. The only variables that seem to transfer correctly are Vo2 Max and recovery hours. The training status shows no status and the only training load that is present is from the strength training sessions which is miniscule.

Physio True-Up is turned on properly in both devices and the edge 1030 is the only device that functions correctly with all metrics being proper.

Does anyone else experience such an issue with their fenix 5 plus when used in conjunction with a cycling computer? I have tried a few things, however none of these seem to have helped. If other people report no problems of this kind, then I will reset the watch to factory defaults and go through the setup routine from scratch which is a great hassle.

  • What most here are complaining about is only "Training Status". If none of your workouts are syncing, that is a larger problem.

  • Yes just the training status is not updated on my fenix 5 plus from rides recorded on edge 530. Physio turned on both devices. This was working fine in version 13 it broke when I upgraded to 14.

  • Sent another inquiry to Garmin support, don't have high hopes though as they're never very responsive about status of any issue. I included a link to this thread so they can see multiple people have the same issue.

  • Is Garmin being serious, in another thread they mentioned that about 3 people only are having this issue and that they expect it to magically resolve once people do more outdoor activities.

    According to them, they do not even consider this widespread issue a bug and they clearly do not know how their products are even supposed to work. Over two months with no status sync to the Fenix 5 plus and nothing has been done to resolve the issue.

  • Having the exact same problem with my fenix 5 plus and edge 530.  Used to training load on both, now just the edge.

    Has anyone found a cure for this??

  • Despite repeated complaints, and customer service requests, Garmin has successfully stonewalled and maintained radio silence. Their public reps who sometimes post in these forums would never accept that anything was wrong. Their customer service rep would only say issue has been forwarded to their engineering team. I've have this issue now for 4-5 months.

    The latest firmware release candidate that is pinned to the top of the forum has a one line item stating that Training Status has been fixed. But further down some people trying it are saying it is still not fixed, others are saying it only works with new activities going forward, others saying it is fixed, so remains to be seen.

    This is all separate from the issue that it is fairly stupid to have a separate "Training Status" per device, I'm a human being, not a device!!! Garmin could easily change their backend algorithms so that they compute one overall Training Status for an individual across devices, even from activities uploaded from third party services, as long as you had one Garmin device with the training status feature that you had paid for, they could even require that you occasionally upload a workout from that device, to prevent freeloading. dcrainmaker.com in fact just proposed that in one of his latest posts. As it is, even when working and with Physio True Up setting on, different devices give you a different Training Status score.

    But Garmin seems to enjoy its market leader status and is not motivated enough to move away from its "per device" focus and having different algorithms for different devices.
