Fenix 5 plus install Garmin discovery 1:50 UK map

Hi a few years ago I had a Fenix 5 plus with Garmin Discovery 1:50 UK maps on it but I lost the watch manged to get another and the Garmin Discovery 1:50 UK Maps on sd card, the map will show in Base camp from the sd card but struggling to install on the Fenix 5 plus just wondering how I install the map onto the unit any help please.

Obviously you have to install the maps on your computer first:

If they come in the img format, it might be possible to copy them directly to the watch and activate them in the settings of your desired activity.

Ok thanks for that how do I do that and how do you down load the map to base camp.

I don't know, but what about the second part of my suggestion? Did you check the format on the SD-card?

So far I have only used free OSM based maps which either came in an installation version for the computer or as .img files, which can directly be copied to the Garmin folder of the watch.

hi it does have an img file but has 0 bites tried copying it into the garmin file on the watch but nothing shows up when the watch is turned on and in map setting so I am at a loss.

If its on an sd card then it is my experience that it is 'locked' to the card, meaning if it were copied the protected information linked to the card would not be transferred, making the map useless.

If it shows on Basecamp then https:/pinns.co.uk/devon/devonmap.htmlhave you tried Maps,Install Maps? This brings up Mapinstaller, which is part of Garmin.

It might generate a gmapsupp.img and even if it did it will not copy the missing 'key'.unless the map was initially not protected,

Personally I would look around for free maps of the UK specifically tailored to the contraints of a Fenix,ie a 64 colour palette, size of highways,and pois , memory and speed.

You may want to have a look at a map of the southwest of the UK uniquely designed for a Fenix.
