Does the Fenix 5 Plus not sync simultaneously with Garmin golf?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to get the Fenix 5 plus to sync simultaneously with the Garmin golf app while I’m playing. The app has a few tracking features that I can’t use on the watch and vice versa.
