GPS Distance, duration

Do you have autopause on? If so it’s possible the watch lost the GPS signal and didn’t recover it. 

Can you make the activity public in Garmin Connect and link to it here?

If you don't want to do that (which is okay), could you give some more background information:

• Is the map showing your full route, with the straight line added?
• Or is the map showing only part of your route, with the straight line connecting two points on your actual route?
• Was your actual end point at the red stop symbol at the upper left end of the straight line?
• Did you at any point pause the activity by pressing the Start/Stop button?
• Were you only recording, or were you using the watch to give you some kind of instruction, for example a training workout or route finding.
• If you look at the graphs and set them to be Duration based, do they show 40 minutes or 2h22 on the horizontal scale?

• Did you at any point pause the activity by pressing the Start/Stop button? YES, ONE OR TWO TIMES BUT RESTARTED ACTIVITY EACH TIME
• Were you only recording, or were you using the watch to give you some kind of instruction, for example a training workout or route finding. JUST RECORDING MY ROUTE
• If you look at the graphs and set them to be Duration based, do they show 40 minutes or 2h22 on the horizontal scale? THEY SHOW 40 MINUTES FOR ALL HORIZONTAL SCALE, NEVER 2H22

I just had the same issue today, but have had it before. The gps was lost or something crashed on the watch . My fenix was back to the watch face but with up down i got it back again to the excercise and it found a signal again. Too bad you're run gets shortened because it just makes a straight line between the last known points..

The problem is each time I use hiking activity I get the same problem afer 1 or 2 hours... straight line

As you report a crash this seems to be a different problem and you can search what might cause the crash. Normally the F5+ works very solid. Some points which might help you locate the error:

Which activity did you use? One from Garmin or a different one?
Did you use maps/navigation?
Do you use 3rd party datafields, 3rd party maps etc.?
Is the memory full (e.g. with music or maps)?

Also here: Do you use Autopause? As the current pace is not reliable when you move slow and under difficult GPS-Conditions the activity might stop although you move. I use Autopause only for cycling and not even for MTB.

Or do you also have a crash like Gigi reported?

It’s possible the OpenStreetMap is the problem causing an overload of the processor leading to the slowing down and eventual crash.  You could try deleting it, download and install a new version. I’m guessing using a GARMIN map is not an option?
