Bluetooth keeps dropping out - iPhone / F5Plus

Hi Everyone

I am continually having problems with the bluetooth connection between my iPhone XS and my Fenix 5 Plus. I have recently totally wiped my iPhone and set it up from scratch (not from a prior backup) and also yesterday did a factory reset on my Fenix 5 Plus too.

I thought all was going well (ie bluetooth staying connected) but in less than 24 hours it had dropped again. It never seems to re-connect either, and this is a real pain as I do use the notifications function on the watch.

Is this just how they all are or is there something going on with my watch?

I am on software version 13.00 on my watch and 13.6.1 on my iPhone, but I've had this problem for many versions of both watch and iPhone firmwares.

Thanks

Will.

  • I've had an iPhone 6s and had no problems. I just got an iPhone 12 mini and about as soon as I hooked it up to the Fenix, I started getting the Connected/Disconnected alerts constantly when I walked to the other side of the house from where the phone is. Using latest updates on both the iPhone and Fenix. I'm not sure if this could be a Bluetooth version issue (older vs. newer iPhone) or if the iPhone 6s just puts out a stronger Bluetooth signal.

  • Also, I tried disabling DeviceManagement.Framework and it didn't help.

Sorry to hear that. I can say this really helped me and so far so good. Wish there was a definite way to isolate this problem as it truly sucks!

  • As noted in another thread, try update your watch with Garmin Express, a new ANT/BLE/BT 6.11 is available. I’ve had the same issue as you, and this update seems like it’s fixed things.
