Hello there and greetings all.
I am attempting the Welsh 3000s next weekend, which is a 30mi hike covering 16 peaks each above 3000ft, for which i have created a course. I would like to get the most out of various settings in the Hike mode, but after a year or so of having the watch a few features still baffle me. Here we go:
[0. Reference has been made to 'reading the manual' - usually my last resort in such circumstances, but it is becoming desperate. but where is this manual? could someone post of link of a manual to explain what each of the fields actually does? this may well answer a few of the below.]
1. ClimbPro : the course has identified 22 climbs. how do i shuffle through them, whilst on the hike? it would be good to know what's coming next, particularly if the current climb is somewhat 'spurious' (e.g. sometimes very short climbs are identified as individual proper climbs, but aren't really and i'd rather be looking at the next one)
2. What does the 'heading bug' actually do? Firstly, is it the red arrow that sits on the outside of screen? and secondly, assuming it is, what does it actually point to? doesn't seem to be a compass...is it pointing to the next turn? the next waypoint? the final destination? feels like it could be helpful, but only if i know what it's telling me.
3. Is a 'course point' in GC the same as a 'waypoint' on the course in the watch?
4. I presume the 'Dist to Next' and 'Dest. Waypoint' are distinct in that the former is to the distance to the next 'turn' and the latter a distance to the next 'user defined point' on the course. But how is a waypoint actually added to the course in GC?
5. When using the map page, i find it tends to 'automatically' pan out to what it thinks is a useful/helpful scale...but it often selects a scale i don't want. Manually zooming in and out is ok to check things, but how do i override the 'autozoom' and force it to stick with the zoom level i select?
6. If i chose to 'race' the course (which is effectively what i'm doing, as the target is to complete it in 16hrs), what do the 'race' pages do? i.e. what is the 'Time Ahead' field (of what?), and the arrows beneath it?
In summary, the manual would be extremely helpful here.
Let me know if anyone can help with any of these.
Many thanks indeed.
